What you will learn

Experimental technique

Operating the RTX-1000 triaxial system and the full range of rock mechanics instruments, from specimen preparation through to interpreting the data.

Numerical analysis

The discrete element method with Particle Flow Code, ABAQUS and FLAC, plus Python for data processing and automation.

Field investigation

Discontinuity surveys, rock mass classification and database construction — turning field observation into usable engineering parameters.
